AI Tools and Workflows · Intermediate
Course overview
This course teaches you to design and build reliable automations using visual tools, with AI steps where they add value. You learn to map a process, choose triggers and actions, add AI classification or drafting, and test failure cases with human handoffs. Every session is a build lab on your own workflow.

Industry use cases
Route new order notes and support emails by category, log them in a sheet, and draft replies for staff approval.
Capture intake form submissions, summarise the request, create a task, and send an acknowledgement for review.
Parse shipment update emails into a tracking sheet and alert a coordinator when a delay is reported.
Collect enquiry form leads, classify buyer or renter intent, and schedule follow-up reminders for an agent.
Collect assignment submissions or feedback forms, summarise comments by theme, and notify instructors of urgent items.
Classify incoming support tickets by topic and urgency, post a summary to a team channel, and flag unclear tickets for a human.
Syllabus
Every module ends with a hands-on lab you can apply to your own work.
Learn to decide what is worth automating and to describe a process precisely enough to build it.
Hands-on lab: Map one real workflow on a diagram and mark which steps are automatable, AI-assisted, or human-only.
Understand the building blocks shared by Zapier, Make, and similar tools, and build your first working flow.
Hands-on lab: Build a form-to-sheet-to-email automation and trace one record through every step in the run history.
Control which records proceed, reshape data, and branch logic so automations behave predictably.
Hands-on lab: Extend your first flow with a filter, a lookup that prevents duplicates, and a branch for incomplete submissions.
Use AI inside a workflow for classification, extraction, summarising, and drafting with consistent, checkable output.
Hands-on lab: Add an AI step that classifies and summarises incoming records into set fields, then test it on twenty varied samples and record the accuracy.
Make automations dependable by testing edge cases and planning for failure.
Hands-on lab: Run a written test plan against your automation, break it deliberately, and add error alerts and an approval step.
Document, secure, and hand over an automation so others can maintain it, then present your build.
Hands-on lab: Complete your documentation sheet and demonstrate your automation live, including a failure case and its handling.
Capstone project
Build and document an end-to-end automation for a real process of your own, using a visual tool with at least one AI step and a human approval point. Submit a process map, a test log covering at least ten cases including failures, and a handover document. Demonstrate it live and explain the design choices.
